coming on the Hudson
for harry duncans
last night i felt like
john hammond sr.
driving from kalamazoo to detroit
in the middle of the night
with basie & lester young
blasting on the tape deck
in my tough little reliant
cutting hard thru the rain,
not quite a live broadcast
out of kansas city in 1937
but then they quit making hudsons too
oh, maybe 30 years ago
