My old friend and comrade Andy Sunfrog, formerly with the Fifth Estate publication of Detroit, moved the paper's editorial and production operation to a rural compound near Pumpkin Hollow, Tennessee, several years ago. Now, in 2005, the Fifth Estate was celebrating its 40th anniversary and Sunfrog invited me to join him in March for celebratory shows in Nashville and Asheville, NC.
I stayed at the Pumpkin Hollow farm and on Thursday evening Andy and I sat down with his recording outfit and cut an edition of the John Sinclair Show right there in his office. Andy contributed some of his trademark ranting and raving, and we alternated musical selections by John Lennon, Muddy Waters, the Staples Singers, the Wild Tchoupitoulas, James Andrews, Olu Dara, John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars, and Hound Dog Taylor & the Houserockers. Of especial interest is Andy's reading of his great poem, I Hate That Motherfucker Named Bill Frist.
